Cerkya Remote Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Cerkya Remote (“the app”, “we”) does with your information. In short: we do not track you, we have no analytics, and the app sends data to us only when you choose to submit the support form.
What the app does
Cerkya Remote controls a compatible Smart TV from your iPhone over your home Wi-Fi network.
Local network use
The app uses your local network only to find your TV and send it remote-control commands (for example volume, channel or power). These commands go straight from your iPhone to your TV. They do not pass through our servers. iOS asks you for Local Network permission for this.
What we do not do
- No tracking, no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No account or login.
- No data is sent to us automatically.
Data stored on your iPhone
- The last TV you selected (its address and name), so the app can reconnect.
- A diagnostics log file (
cerkya-remote.log, at most about 256 KB, oldest lines are dropped). It records app launch (app version, iOS version, device model), scan start and end, TVs and unsupported devices found (name, brand, model, API version), failed commands (which key or app, and the error type) and connection changes. It does not record every button press, and the host part of home-network IP addresses is hidden (for example 192.168.1.x). TV names are shown as the TV reports them, so a name you gave your TV may appear in the log.
You can export or clear the log at any time in Settings. Deleting the app removes it.
Data we receive: only the support form
If you tap “Request support for my TV” and then Send, the app sends one request over HTTPS to our support service. It contains exactly these fields:
- app version and build, iOS version, device model identifier, language/locale and region code
- the TV brand and model you entered
- your email address (optional; only if you type one, so we can reply)
- your notes (optional)
- the list of other TVs the app detected on your network (brand, model, name and the technical signals that identified them, without IP addresses)
- the diagnostics log (only if “Attach diagnostics log” is on; it is on by default and you can turn it off)
- the time of the request
The form has a “Preview what will be sent” section that shows the exact data before you send it. If sending is not available, or fails, you can instead share the same data yourself by email through the iOS share sheet.
How we use it
Only to understand which TVs people want supported, to fix problems, and to reply if you gave an email address. We do not sell or share it, and we do not use it for advertising or tracking.
Retention
Support requests are kept for up to 12 months after they are resolved, then deleted. You can ask us to delete your request earlier by emailing datos@cerkya.com.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the data we received from you by emailing datos@cerkya.com. Because requests are not linked to an account, please include the email address or the time you used in the form so we can find it.
If you are in Colombia, you can exercise your Habeas Data rights under Ley 1581 de 2012 by writing to datos@cerkya.com.
Children
The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only free-text fields are the optional email and notes in the support form.
Security
Support requests are sent over HTTPS. The app talks to your TV over your local network using the TV’s own (unencrypted) local control interface, which is why the app asks for Local Network access.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, mention it in the app’s release notes.
